Biophilic Décor: It's a Natural

Biophilic Décor: It's a Natural

After spending a long winter at home, nothing feels better than some spring cleaning. If you’re looking for new ideas to give your space a quick refresh, the iNSPIRE Q Design Team has got you covered. Biophilic design is on the rise, and this season, natural and neutral elements are all the rage. We’re here to give you 3 easy home décor trends of 2021 for your home.

Use a soft, neutral color palette.

Soft tones and a neutral color palette set the stage for a calm and relaxing space. Take a look at how we set up ours:

Here, we use beige linen, warm wood tones, earthy greens, and natural lighting. All other pieces are either a shade of white or brown to complement the furniture. We chose a beige linen-upholstered daybed to anchor our space because it is as versatile as it is stylish. Use it as a bed or as a casual lounging space, with room to spare!

We paired the daybed with a comfy, beige linen-upholstered cocktail ottoman and a white end table for convenience. Two, beige linen-upholstered side chairs also match with our daybed and we placed them at desks. We chose a white desk to match our end table, while the second desk comes in an espresso hue to go with the wood tones from our ivory bookcase and reclaimed wood mirror.

Add a fresh pop of color.

Now that we have a blank canvas, it’s time to splash some color! For our space, we used touches of green throughout, as they go hand in hand with this neutral color palette. Earthy, green tones are lively yet calming, so they can be used in a bedroom, home office, or gathering space. This is very easy home décor trend to achieve and there are a multitude of ways for you to go about it!

For an inviting feel, we went with some lush, layered bedding with various green and white fabrics on our daybed.

One of the biggest home decor trends of 2021 is about embracing biophilic design. This image shows a close up of the beige linen daybed. The daybed features green blankets and pillows for a fresh pop of color. It is set against an exposed white brick wall, which also features the faux greenery.

Every room can use some extra storage, but an end table’s use doesn’t end there. Easily freshen up your space by placing a vase of fresh flowers atop it. And you don’t have to stop there. Indoor plants are key to biophilic design and these home décor trends of 2021, so feel free to add more!

But the masterpiece of this space is our faux greenery wall. True to biophilic design, it adds a captivating focal point to enjoy touches of the outdoors right in your home.

Incorporate other natural elements.

Here’s where we can really get creative and play with textures and materials! We have a plethora of different natural elements in our space: exposed bricks, wood tones, natural sunlight, and various greenery.

This is a closeup of our espresso wood desk. On top of the desk is a wicker pendant light. Next to the desk is a beige linen side chair. Behind the desk in the image is the antique white wood and black metal bookcase.

Our chosen furniture pieces embrace this home décor trend of 2021. Our bookcase features a visible wood grain finish and we added a rich, espresso wood desk. Not only does this area look great, but it’s multifunctional too, as the desk can be used as a workstation and a vanity area for getting ready.

Be sure to keep in mind: nature and biophilic design are all about sustainability, so it’s important to focus on natural materials instead of synthetic. We decorated our space with a sisal rug, a wicker pendent light, and a mirror made with reclaimed wood.

It’s time to go out with the old and in with the new; these 3 easy home décor trends of 2021 from the iNSPIRE Q Design Team is sure to give your safe haven the refresh it needs. Between the neutral color palette, a fresh pop of color, and natural elements, this room is ready for spring. Are you?
